Landmarks and Citysight vol 2 is a kind of sequel, but also a further development of the first illustrated book.
The starting point is always real photography, which Hans-Joachim Hummel often finds too boring or not enough to be a picture. That‘s why reality is alienated, pictorial layers are combined, and the dilapidated is often mixed with the beauty. The artist is constantly experimenting and rarely applies a method he has found exactly the same way a second time. The uniqueness appeals to him.
So there is a lot of new things in this book to discover again and again.

For Hong Kong Ping Pong I have selected images that reflect both the diversity of this city and the different aspects of my photographic work.
All of them share a personal view of the city, which presented itself to us on a visit in autumn 2016 as versatile and multi-layered as hardly any other.
There was movement everywhere. Everywhere, everything was different again and again. And all of this in a space that is limited to the maximum. This city creates and needs new, different images – this is the reality I want to bring to light.

The type of photography and the subsequent digital processing leads to an an other level of reality. Details are blurred, the whole is sorted into a new image.
